5 In Hospital Shooting At Austin-Area Walmart - Cedar Park Police are investigating a shooting at a Walmart that sent five people to the hospital.

It happened just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Walmart on FM 1431 at Bell Boulevard.

A police captain says the shooting happened in the parking lot. Williamson County EMS crews rushed five victims to the hospital. Their condition at this time is not known.

Police say they have one suspect in custody.

Around 9:30 a.m. Walmart reopened to the public, but the majority of the parking lot is still closed off by police.

Investigators are working right now to piece the details together. Police plan to call a news conference Sunday afternoon.

In a press release, Cedar Park Police report that of the five people taken to the hospital, four had gunshot wounds. The fifth person sustained other injuries.

In a preliminary investigation, authorities say a group of people met in the parking of the Walmart for an altercation, and that is when at least one person started shooting.

The release also states that no Walmart employees or customers were hurt.
