Ellen Degeneres and Kellie Pickler - Last week on Good Morning America, she shed her long blonde hair in an act of solidarity with her childhood best friend, who is fighting breast cancer.
And Kellie Pickler made an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' show Friday to further discuss her heartfelt gesture and raise cancer awareness.
'It's just hair!' the 26-year-old country singer said on the episode airing tomorrow.
'I will be honest with you, I was a little nervous and she was too. [We thought], "I hope we don't have some crazy birthmark or wart or mole or something," but we had fun.'
Not only did the former American Idol contestant shave her head for Summer Miller, whom she met on the pageant circuit when they were both teenagers, but Kellie also did it for her grandmother.
'A lot of people don't know this but my grandmother passed away with cancer (sic),' she revealed to Ellen.
'It was a different type of cancer, but she passed away the very next morning after being diagnosed.'
By the tender age of 12, Kellie was raised by her grandparents Clyde and Faye Pickler because her parents were in and out of her life during her childhood.
When her 35-year-old friend Summer was diagnosed with the disease last June, the pair made a pact to shave their heads together.
'I think it's important to have a cancer buddy,' Kellie said, adding that Miller is 'doing good' and began her chemotherapy treatments last week.
'Of course, it's hard. It's hard on your body, it's hard on your mind. It's not an easy thing to go through. But she's a strong woman and she's handled it with such grace,' said Pickler.
The Red High Heels singer continued, 'I went first and...that is probably one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Just being able to do that with her...she's my big sister. She really is. We're not blood kin but we are sisters.'
After their talk, Ellen shaved her initials into the back of the crooner's buzzed head.

Pickler definitely has a sense of humour about her new haircut, tweeting about doing a G.I. Jane Halloween costume and getting mistaken for fellow Idol alum Chris Daughtry.
'To everyone who messaged me asking if I was gonna wear a wig @ my show 2nite->(excuse my language) But heck NO, I'm gonna rock this shit! ;)' she proudly posted.
Pickler's touching tribute came right before Lady Gaga shaved the back of her head and got a cherub tattoo in honor of photographer Terry Richardson’s recently deceased mother Annie Lomax.
Since finishing sixth on the fifth season of American Idol, Kellie has released three albums, the first of which, Small Town Girl, sold 800,000 copies.
Pickler will next be seen onstage the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday night in Nashville and she'll perform September 21 at the Bloomsburg Fair in Pennsylvania.
She's married to songwriter Kyle Jacobs, who proposed to Kellie the day after her late grandmother's birthday in 2010.
